Welcome to Shadow Play!

I've made this blog for people, like me, who enjoy shadow play.

I've been collecting books on shadow play for nearly 30 years and I have many shadow plays that I've made myself, mostly European fairy tales, Noah's Ark, the Christmas Story and countless traditional children's songs.

I've been a gradeschool teacher for a number of years. Many years ago, during my studies to become a teacher, we were taught shadow play as a regular part of the curriculum. Upon becoming a teacher, I used the medium many times with great success. It was such a joy to see the surprise and wonder on the faces of the children as they saw what magic that light and shadow can deliver.

Unfortunately, shadow play is no longer encouraged these days in the education of young teachers. Needless to say, those who use shadow play as a medium in schools is also declining rapidly as the old guard edges towards retirement. My goal is to renew interest in shadow play, even to the point where it is offered again in schools. I find it a wonderful medium and feel that it deserves a place in the upbringing of children.

Do you have suggestions for me?
